Aurora Aksnes earliest musical memory is that of finding a piano in her attic and becoming enthralled by the music it could make. Jan Oystein Aksnes' parents May Britt Aksnes encouraged her to make music as a means of the sake of personal development, and not for the purpose of making money or for to pursue an interest. She began writing lyrics of her own. As well as Bjork She also cites Leonard Cohen as an influence. After her mother said that the songs she wrote might not make her famous however, but to encourage individuals to recognize the value of themselves and their impact to the world, she began performing them publicly. She was suggested by her mother to perform her songs publicly to help people realize their own importance and how they could impact the world. This was not known by her family until she turned fourteen. Aurora wasn't a dream. She says she just likes writing songs. She says that music is her favorite way of feeling anything.
